Abstract

This case study provides insights into the important role that strategy and leadership plays in the transformation of an organization. The case portrays the vision of a strategist and the leadership style of the President Director of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Kamardy Arief. During his tenure as the chief steward of BRI, Kamardy Arief had transformed BRI from an over-staffed, state-owned bank having to bear huge losses into a bank with the largest network of micro-finance banks in Indonesia. The main objective of this case study is to equip participants with an understanding about the roles of strategies and transformational leadership in the field of management.
