Abstract
In the recent years, many incidents of cheating were reported during exams in India. This had created a negative image about the Indian education system and the quality of students who passed out each year. Examination malpractice had become a flourishing business, with cheaters using techniques such as mass copying, impersonating students, bribing invigilators, and sending information on smartphones, etc. There was a nexus between teachers, touts and officials from education departments and boards, which helped in the proliferation of malpractices in the exams. Students used this as an opportunity to pass the exam with excellent grades so that they could get admission in reputed institutes for their higher studies. This had led to critics questioning the credibility of Indian education system. Though attempts had been made to stop the malpractices in exams, it was yet to achieve the desired results. Would India be ever able to curb the rampant malpractices during the exams?
