Abstract

This is part of a case series. Through a simulated conversation among four participants in the MACH program, issues covered include the hiring process, the appeal of working at a company like Microsoft, and what motivates young millennials to take this step. The expectations of this generation are also presented, along with the reality they will face upon their arrival and in their development, as well as the danger of lurking headhunters. Another topic of interest dealt with in the conversations is the role of mentors and the importance of people-oriented direction and leadership and the differences between generations. Two simultaneous conversations, the first between Ana and Luisa and the second between two account managers, will reveal management's vantage point and that of the generations before the millennials and their contribution to and future in the company. Finally, a conversation between Luisa and Rocio reveals the problems a company faces when motivating and retaining junior talent, and why they decide to seek other professional options.
