Abstract
In the digital age where almost every individual was hooked on to the web, cyber awareness became extremely crucial for users, specifically young people. The age of technology had managed to offer bullies and stalkers a new option to intimidate youngsters. Cyberbullying eventually became a menace for the society. Cyberbullying was evident through various forms including online forums, online games, or through social media networks. Starting from school children, to adults in corporates, a number of users experienced online bullying on a number of occasions. While some children broke down, many others suffered in silence. Ultimately, they ended up taking their own lives, as a means to avoid the embarrassment and subsequent trauma from cyberbullying. Adults, on the contrary faced cyberbullying from colleagues in the workplace. Some of them chose to ignore the humiliation, while others raised their voice against the offence. With the rising prevalence of suicides because of cyberbullying, some steps were taken on various levels. Social media giants took up measures to prevent cyberbullying activities. Efforts were on to pass laws to deal with cases of cyberbullying and its consequences. However, it was difficult for laws to catch up with the rapid pace of advancements in technology and social media. Considering the lack of stringent policies against cyberbullying, would cyberbullying continue to be a global menace?
