Abstract
Jobnet is a subsidiary of Fresh Start Partners, a small startup company in the job placement industry. Jobnet's focus is to provide the company's basic service, job matching and placement, using the Internet. Jobnet was provided with an opportunity to purchase some new software and hardware to enhance its ability to service clients in its domestic market. However, the software, a 'parametric search engine', had been originally designed for the manufacturing and distribution industries. The specific issue faced by the principals of Jobnet involves decision making when unfamiliarity with technology and differing perspectives have to be reconciled. The broader issue involves the longer term viability of a job placement company attempting to work primarily through the medium of the Internet.
