Abstract
This paper will appeal to those who have gathered field or desk-based data, with a view to writing a case for teaching and learning purposes with their students, but are not quite sure where to start. The framework for transforming your research and case ideas into a 'decision' case* takes you through a ten-step process that culminates in production of a draft case, along with an associated teaching note and teaching plan. Practical tips to enhance the quality of the learning experience of your students and to encourage adoption of your case by other lecturers, are included at every stage in the process. As your confidence as a case writer grows, so too will the prospects of your completed case being published and recognised for its potential impact as a valuable teaching resource to achieve the teaching, learning and assessment purposes for which it is designed. Hopefully your decision to read and follow the guidelines in this paper will prove to be a good one! *A 'decision' case is one that typically challenges the reader to take a decision to resolve a management problem, based upon evaluation of the real, or perceived, forces at play in the given scenario.
