Abstract
This chapter is excerpted from 'Managerial Communication for Organizational Development'. This book offers a functions approach to managerial communication as well as explores what the communication managers actually do in business across the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling functions. The Windows into Practical Reality add contemporary information pertinent to key concepts in the chapters. Focusing on theory and application that will help managers and future managers understand the practices of management communication, this book combines ideas from industry experts, popular culture, news events, and academic articles and books written by leading scholars. The chapters will help any manager realize the full capacity of its organizational objectives, both internally and externally. Organizational development is the relationships built by effective managerial communication. All of the levels of communication (intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, organizational, and intercultural) play a role in managerial communication and are discussed thoroughly.
