Abstract
On October 3, 1988, Inco Limited surprised the Canadian financial community by announcing a recapitalization plan. The plan included a special cash dividend of US$10 per share, an offering of nickel notes and a shareholders rights plan, 'poison pill' - the first of its kind in Canada. The issue is the impact of such plans on share price. The nickel notes provide a vehicle for discussing contingent claims analysis.
