Abstract
A female expatriate manager working for a large multinational financial institution must contend with gender discrimination. She had been offered a promotion to one or two positions, of which she could choose. When she makes her decision and informs her boss, he tells her she cannot have the one she chose because it would mean period travel into an Arab culture which, he believes, would not be possible for a woman.
