Abstract

The case describes the competitive situation and evolution of bottled water industry in Uzbekistan, exhibiting ups and owns of several multinational and local firms. With the initial success of Coca-Cola in Uzbekistan, its political connections brought problems for its competitive sustainability. Nestle was the top competitor in the market with innovative marketing approach and made the industrial revolution. However, local firms were catching up fast with different strategies. Challenges were presented to Family Group in specific for its implication in infringing on intellectual property law. As well, Hydrolife seemed to challenge the leading position of Nestle.
