Data Visualization is an effective field under Business Intelligence and Analytics. Successfully displaying data in order to understand the pattern, gaps and derive meaningful interpretation leads to better decision making. More importantly; for the Sales function, channel management needs to be closely looked at as the distributors and retailers play a vital role in the FMEG (Fast Moving Electrical Goods) Industry. The adoption of technology leads to ease in monitoring and adds accuracy in business decisions. Business Intelligence focuses on gathering, organizing, identifying meaningful patterns, thus improves the decision making process. Also visualizing figures using charts, graphs, TreeMaps etc provides better understanding. This case deals with one of the largest Indian electrical goods manufacturer - 'Havells'. The case discusses the possibilities and the growth prospects of the FMEG Industry, the journey of Havells and further illustrates the use of a Microsoft Power BI (Business Intelligence) tool in keeping track of its channel partners through the use of dashboards with an objective to have real time information and further improve the top line.
