Abstract
The president of a construction company must make a decision about replacing one of its engineers. An expatriate engineer was sent to Africa to represent the company in the joint venture and to help in the actual start-up of operations. He and his wife encounter problems settling in socially and at work. The issues are culture shock adjustment for spouses, as well as selection and training.
