Abstract

Mr Anand Mittal wants to change his investment strategy from passive to active. Hence he wants to select a few stocks to be added to his existing portfolio which comprises of 100% investment in an equity index fund ie Unit Trust of India Nifty 50 fund. He has narrowed down his search to the best performing sectoral indices on Nifty ie Banks, Information Technology and Financial Services. He has shortlisted one stock from each sector keeping in view the market capitalization and weightage given to the stock on the index. Now he has to make a decision that which stock out of HDFC Bank Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services and Bajaj Finserv, when added to his existing portfolio of Index fund, will provide maximum return in exchange of the risk he is now going to undertake by diversifying his portfolio.
