Abstract
This is part of a case series. This case exercise utilises role-playing to highlight the multi-party interaction to develop a firm's business expansion plan. There are five roles in this exercise and each role represents a department. The information of each role further details the department's interests and concerns on four issues. The context of this exercise is in the robotics industry. The general information provides the firm’s vision, robotics business of the country, firm’s domestic business position, firm’s interests to connect to a foreign firm and the collaboration potential with a foreign firm. The general information also enables each role player to develop their own business plan while integrating their firm’s interests. This multi-party and multi-issue exercise at an intra-firm level aims to enable exercise participants to learn how to disentangle complexity through active listening and learn how to solve conflict to create a joint business plan.
