Abstract

Aashna Singh and Param Singh launched MoooFarm as an initiative of Param Singh's social enterprise UDAY, in 2017. MooFarm created a digital ecosystem for cattle management in dairy farming to bridge the technology gap for India's marginalised dairy farmers. MoooFarm utilised its technology expertise and operated at three levels which included offering a demand-led-extension training through Moooapp; boot camp trainings through a mobile dairy, and the launch of AgTech rural start-ups by village entrepreneurs. The company aimed to increase the income of 1 million farmers by 2021 by helping them to produce better quality milk. The company also introduced Facial Technology and Mastitis Detection Technology in its app. Hitherto, it had changed the lives of 4000 farmers in more than 100 villages across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Haryana. The duo was determined to create a positive impact among 0.2 million farmers by the end of 2020 and enhance the income of 1 million farmers by 2022. It remained to be seen whether the duo would succeed in their aim to transform the Indian dairy sector using technology.
