Abstract
Peter, the global head of human resources (HR) at GWS, a family-owned, Germany-based company, was surprised when he read an email he had received from their US subsidiary, GWS LLC. There seemed to be a situation at the production facility in Oklahoma. Lisa, the local head of HR, had stashed away an internal application for a position. When the applicant, Brian, later complained about being deterred by his direct boss, the vice president (VP) of innovation, to apply for the position, Lisa concealed the complaint. As it were, the VP of innovation was Lisa's husband. Peter, had to decide about what to do about Lisa.
