Abstract

The global disaster unleashed by corona virus was far from being controlled. The Ministry of Education in UAE in its desperate attempt to contain the spread of the disease had announced closure of all schools and universities in the UAE for four weeks from Sunday 8th March 2020. Since the announcement coincided with the spring semester, the students' loss of studies was imminent. True to their tech-savvy and agile character, the innovative educational institutions of UAE geared up to meet the challenge head-on through increased technology intervention in delivery of education. Smart educational institutions had geared up to respond to the crisis in a bid to minimise its impact, and quickly switched over to the online mode of course delivery without necessitating physical gathering of the students in universities, schools and colleges. Would the timely intervention of the government and educational institutions minimise the educational disruption in UAE or would the pandemic pose a major setback to the learning aspirations of many?
