Abstract

This case is part of the Giving Voice to Values (GVV) curriculum. This case introduces the newly appointed Head of the Nonperforming Loans portfolio at a large bank in Egypt, who discovers that the bank and its practices may be partially responsible for a loan default. This case deals with broken banking systems, loan repayment practices, power and influence within the banking industry, individual and organizational reputations, and layers of the loan process. It works well in organizational behavior, finance, risk management, small business management, banking and ethics courses, as and in stand-alone workshops. It can work with undergraduate and MBA students as well as executives within the banking industry.
