Abstract
Internal or international migrants play a vital role in ensuring global and national food supplies and the pandemic has spotlighted this. Any policies put into place by a government that hinders a migrant's movement or safety jeopardizes agricultural supply chains. Other knock-on effects include not being able to send money (remittances) or transferring knowledge back home. Governments need to put policies into place that protect migrant workers in the workplace, facilitate movement within and between territories, reduce administrative red tape, match supply and demand, and protect migrant families.
