The case is about a textile company that had a sound international business reputation for its technological prowess, quality, commitment, and reliability. The exports of the textile products were carried out through global networking. The company practiced total quality management and in the process, management had introduced a quality improvement project (QIP). The company believed in the promotion of leadership qualities among the executives, the team concept was practiced to promote a harmonious work culture. The company had improved the operational efficiency through employee motivation and the organisation climate was improved by quality practices. The business process operations were articulated to deal with various features for establishing quality improvement and promote the culture of problem prevention. The company could address many problems effectively but could see an inherent risk of managing higher employee aspirations whilst implementing QIP. The purpose of the case is to acquaint participants in understanding the importance of human resource for business process excellence, and to know about total quality management. The issues in the case are total quality management, motivation and cost reduction. Participants should have knowledge of the concepts of total quality management and the related methods, team building, and change management and motivation. The case can be analysed first at the individual level, and then at group level. Each group can be of 4-5 participants. Each issue can be devoted 30 minutes.
