Abstract

In January 2012, Steve PonTell was offered a one-year contract as Interim CEO of National Community Renaissance (National CORE), one of the most integrated affordable housing non-profit organizations in the US. Soon after joining, Steve discovered that each of the four main divisions of the organization had structural challenges and the organization as a whole was losing money. Still CEO over six years later, in May 2018, Steve reflected on the massive transformation he had led, and contemplated the challenges that still lay ahead.
