Abstract

The case describes the strategic dilemma before Nestlé India. On the one hand, Nestlé's sales are largely due to the taste and convenience of its products. It was in Nestlé's interests to preserve these qualities. On the other hand, increasing awareness about the long-term health impact of processed food could lead to a drop in sales if the products were not modified to increase their health quotient. This would however change the taste of the products. The case gives two options: change existing products to better adhere to health requirements or launch a new product range at considerable cost.
