Reflecting on the 'journey' of a pair of 2021 Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG Chinese New Year basketball sneakers, the caselet discusses the value chain and business ecosystem of the mitumba industry in Kenya. It looks at the history and possible future of the mitumba industry not only in Kenya, but in other African countries, too. The positive and negative aspects of the industry in respect of impact on economic activity and local industry are discussed.
