Abstract
During 2023, Xiaomi, the Chinese telecom player had declared a massive organisational restructuring. Business experts opined that, this was a strategic move triggered by the declining market share in India and China. Offering premium products within consumer budgets had been a major USP for the Chinese brand, and the same strategy had won market share for the brand in India as well. Xiaomi further clarified that human resources were to be optimised at the given juncture to improve work efficiency through vertical integration. According to experts, the decision to reduce the headcounts was an integral part of holistic growth strategy, enabling the brand to face the headwinds in the smartphone market post pandemic due to several factors, including strong competition from other Chinese brands during 2023. Would Xiaomi be able to drive a positive change despite facing headwinds in its core operational markets?
