Abstract
This case, about Borussia Dortmund, deals with the basic principles of balance sheet analysis as well as the evaluation methods for corporations. The main advantage of the case of a publicly traded football club is that the business model is relatively simple and easy to understand. Although all balance sheet information was reported under the German HGB standard, this does not mean that the case is limited to students with knowledge in German accounting methods. Balance sheet information unambiguously points in the direction that the business model of Borussia Dortmund is not sustainable at all.
