This is a descriptive case. We will use Vidrala's Financial Statements throughout to learn how to read, analyse and interpret a real company's annual report. The objective of this case is to show students the importance of mastering the underlying accounting measurement and policies in financial statements to be able to enhance their understanding of financial statements, and in turn, to be able to analyse the business in question. The structure of the report also serves as practise for them, and familiarizes them with the type of information they are expected to find. Even experts in accounting find this a complicated task, however, it is key that managers in all fields understand the basics of an annual report.
