Abstract
As per the UNESCO Report 2023, the global water crisis was impacting 2 to 3 billion people at least for a month each year. In the coming years, population growth, urbanisation, industrialisation, and climate change would worsen the situation even further. Experts feared that by the year 2030, there could be almost 40% of the gap between global demand and supplies of fresh water. Since water was a basic and existential need for lives, the crisis needed immediate attention. In the year 2021, the Coca-Cola Company (TCCC), the iconic non-alcoholic beverage company, came forward to promote water stewardship. The company claimed that it had already achieved the target of 100% water replenishment by the year 2015, and it was planning to take up a bigger role through its 2030 water strategy. Given the gravity of the crisis, would such steps lead the company in the right direction? Was it a plausible and sincere plan to address the global water crisis, or was it just a greenwash?
