Abstract
''The East Asian Miracle'', that is how Korea''s impressive growth performance over the last four decades is usually described. The case study focuses on the conditions of dynamic industrial changes that helped Korea to catch up with the industrialised nations. The case could be used for discussion around the development of innovation in a changing environment; from dependence upon knowledge developed abroad, to research as a foundation for innovation. Also, how the developing countries can use the model that Korea followed (the government policies and foreign technology transfer) to catch up with the developing world.
