Abstract

Elon Musk (Musk) after acquiring X (formerly Twitter) desired to transform the platform into a super app. As a step towards the same in August 2023, X launched its 'X Hiring (Beta)' feature for verified organisations. With this new service, organisations could now use the site to post job openings and reach out to candidates. While companies on X had always communicated and engaged with their followers, this allowed them to diversify their recruitment strategies. The platform X interestingly, with the addition of the employment component competed with LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network. With this, Musk began his efforts to establish himself as a viable challenger to LinkedIn. Although LinkedIn was the most popular job-hunting platform, it might face fierce competition from X, considering its large user base. Would this new feature of X displace LinkedIn from the numero uno position in professional networking and become a LinkedIn killer eventually?
