Abstract
Circular economy, once considered as a fringe topic had gained global thrust in the recent years. The circular economy was regarded as a model of production and consumption, which involved sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling the prevailing materials and products. With the circular economic activity, waste was reduced to a minimum amount as everything produced was transformed and used somewhere else constantly. Owing to its immense environmental significance, a large number of countries had been adopting and aiming to implement the circular economy. Similarly, in India, the circular economy movement had received significant impetus because of the Government of India's Swachh Bharat Mission. Moreover, India's move towards implementing a circular economy might register more employment opportunities and concurrently drive sustainable economic growth. However, India had been experiencing several challenges, including institutional, managerial, technological, and social challenges in its efforts towards adopting the circular economy. With this backdrop, would the Indian business sectors reap commercial benefits by adopting the circular economy practices in their businesses?
