Abstract
While thinkers of different disciplines had their own reason to study wars, the cost of war was allegedly masked by national income accounting, as it would typically ignore the lives lost and the destruction of both physical and human capital linked with war. In addition, resources devoted to war were treated as ultimate goods or services rather than as costs of production. Countries suffering from war were known to underperform in terms of production as well as consumption. Wars could even cause fall in GDP per capita owing to lower productivity in terms of labour and total factor owing to the destruction of existing physical as well as human capital, the lack of investment in the newly built ones, and due to reduced gains from internal as well as external trade. Stil, war happened to be the fate of humanity with some countries having it as the major driver of the economy, especially those dealing with arms supplies. What ethical questions would wars pose in terms of the underlying politics and economics? Was there a way out to address such ethical challenges?
