Abstract

Reverse flipping had been identified to be a common trend amongst the Indian startup brands during 2023. A majority of startups especially from the fin-tech sector had planned to launch Initial Public Offers (IPOs) in order to seek long term business benefits from the Indian market during FY2023. The process of reverse flipping entailed shifting a company's base back to India, post an overseas shift initially. The process was understood to be associated with several intricacies like tax payments in layers besides meeting necessary regulatory norms. Experts had suggested that such trends indicated overall growth of the economy coupled with reviving a promising venture capital ecosystem. Would it be feasible for the startups to gain a strong foothold in India through reverse flipping in the long run?
