Abstract
Agriculture was one of the major areas of focus for climate action due to its high share of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and difficulty in mitigating its effects. To address the problems of sustainability in the agriculture sector, General Mills and Walmart entered into partnership on October 17th 2023. The two companies had joined together with the same objective of financing sustainable farming methods to enhance soil health, water quality and carbon sequestration with an aim to promote the adoption of regenerative agriculture. Besides improving soil health, the goal of this initiative was to increase crop yields and ensure economic stability for farmers. General Mills and Walmart's partnership was illustrated by implementing deliberate interventions throughout the agriculture value chain and accelerating sustainable practices across seven US states to promote regenerative agriculture. Would this thoughtful partnership promote regenerative outcomes at scale and drive a path forward for future cross-organisational and cross-industry partnerships?
