Abstract
This case is part of the Trade and Industry Department SME case series funded by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Trade and Industry Department SME Development Fund. After successfully starting a joint venture with a prestigious hospital in Shanghai, Proactive Medicare, a Hong Kong-based SME (small and medium enterprise), was keen to replicate its success in Beijing. The case chronicles the development of the joint venture in Shanghai from inception to implementation. The case is designed to facilitate discussions on the importance of networking in and the key success factors of starting a sino-overseas joint venture in China.
