Abstract

This is part of a case series. In October 2022, during an art history class at Hamline University in St Paul, Minnesota (United States), a professor showed a 16th-century Persian illustration depicting the Prophet Muhammad. One of the students in the course, who was the president of the campus Muslim Student Association, was offended and protested.
