Abstract

The case offers the opportunity to consider a fundamental HR problem that the Gruppo Montenegro was facing in 2018 that is the attractiveness in the job market of the company. The HR Manager (Antonio), the main character of the case, and his colleagues were not able to attract candidates up to the challenges and the ambitions the company was aspiring to. The problem is even more challenging as the CEO of the company doesn't want to leverage an increased in salary package to maintain in equilibrium the economics of the company. So the HR team needs to identify alternative solutions. The case, first introduces the problem and descriptive information about the company, then describes the main alternatives that the HR Department could follow to address the issue, namely leveraging on a) welfare, b) a new brands/products positioning strategy, c) vision and values of the company, d) social media strategy, e) online events and f) partnerships with universities and other prestigious institutions. The teaching notes present the unconventional solution taken by the company that is launching an internal project on 'employee advocacy', leveraged mainly through social media whereby employers empower employees to promote the company and its attractiveness in the market.
