Abstract
ProLogium Technology Co Ltd (PLG) was a leader in the global market for high-performance, safe, and affordable battery technologies for various applications in the automotive, consumer, and industrial sectors. The remarkable journey of the company began in 2006 in Taiwan, where it laid the foundation for an innovative solution to energy storage challenges. In a significant development, in May 2023, PLG selected France to build its first large-scale solid-state battery (SSB) manufacturing facility outside of Taiwan at an investment of EUR5.2 billion. The planned 'giga factory' at Dunkirk would facilitate supply chain localisation, R&D activities, and manufacturing of next-generation batteries in Europe for PLG. The 'giga factory' construction was set to commence in the second half of 2024, and the production was expected to begin by the end of 2026. Given this scenario, could PLG's advanced EV battery technology and innovative production approach disrupt the market's competitive landscape in the coming years?
