Abstract
Workcation was a unique strategy of combining work and vacation in the work sphere. This was contrary to conventional mindset of treating work and vacation as separate entities. However, the technological feasibility of remote work integrated work and leisure to popularise workcation. This practice nurtured healthy work-life balance by locating to a holiday destination equipped with modern connectivity for maintaining work schedules. Consequently, the working pattern had been transformed and work execution was tenable from global geographies. Several countries had established remote work visas in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The unquestionable benefits of workcation had been acknowledged despite some people preferring to keep work and vacation apart. The key benefits comprised improved engagement, efficiency, productivity, motivation, harmony, employee retention, collaboration and attracting top talent. However, the success of workcation strategy was intrinsically dependent on automation and seamless connectivity. Furthermore, the social connections created during workcations nurtured trust, dismantled silos, and laid the foundation of employee cooperation. On the other hand, workcation not being a real vacation could end in distraction or frustration while working across different time zones. Would workcation be able to script a new roadmap in the realms of employee management?
