Abstract
In 2020, Google had created LaMDA system used for building AI chatbots. But the immense success of well-known ChatGPT that was released in November 2022 had forced Google to fast track the development of its own conversational AI chatbot code-named as 'Atlas' and launched under the name Bard during official release. In July 2023, Google rolled out its AI chatbot Bard in Europe and Brazil. Since its launch in UK and US in March 2023, this was Bard's biggest expansion which intensified the company's rivalry with Microsoft's ChatGPT. However, Google's launch of Bard in the EU was delayed due to the data privacy concerns amid stricter EU regulations. Further, as the battle for AI supremacy continued, companies were releasing updates to their AI products. While Microsoft had released its AI-powered tool called Copilot in 2024, Google had also enhanced its AI model and renamed Bard to Gemini. Would Google's new AI model win the AI battle amid growing competition and uncertain regulatory landscape? Would Google succeed in establishing a stronger presence in international markets with its new AI model?
