Abstract
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (Samsung) was the subsidiary of Samsung Group based in Seoul, South Korea. Over the years, Samsung worked towards improving energy efficiency and resource circularity of its products. The company implemented various measures to reduce the environmental impact and developed various technologies to reduce energy usage. Samsung had launched its new environmental strategy in 2022 to address climate change concerns and resource scarcity. The company made various commitments to achieve net-zero carbon emissions through increased usage of renewable energy sources. To fulfil its sustainability commitment, Samsung used carbon capture technology in semiconductor production sites and had planned to expand the application of this technology company-wide and in the supply chain by 2030. Despite several efforts, Samsung was facing issues like global economic downturn and unfavourable semiconductor industry. However, with strong strategy in place, Samsung was committed to address environmental issues through technological innovation. Would Samsung be able to bolster a clean tech ecosystem by investing and developing promising technology to create a sustainable future?
