Abstract
This case explores operations and supply chain issues that bedevilled Ojema's plant: incessant stock-outs, process and capacity-related, quality, high operational costs, and low morale amongst the plant employees. The case depicts typical manufacturing and supply chain issues that most manufacturing organisations experience in developing countries such as Nigeria. Although this case highlights the dilemma of the protagonist (Wilson Ojema) as the plant manager in an operations setting, it also showcases basic concepts in operations and supply chain management. The case is multifaceted: it can be used to facilitate several sessions regarding the concepts of process flow analysis, bottleneck, theory of constraints (TOC), capacity analysis, the impact of demand forecast on operational efficiency, supply chain gridlocks, behavioural operations, and issues of operational excellence in developing countries like Nigeria.
