This case can be used as a stand-alone case to teach students how to evaluate an important computer-aided engineering investment for a firm facing global, competitive pressures. The case is the last in a series on ABB and in this role allows students to examine how technology can be managed ''locally'' in a firm dedicated to achieving both ''global and local'' technology and market capabilities.
