Abstract
SIETI was set up in the 1960s as a training institute for small scale entrepreneurs. It was well known for its training activities and attracted participants from all over the country. However, by the early 1990s, SIETI had lost its position as a premier training institute for various reasons. Some of the reasons were the flight of faculty to other institutes, the poor infrastructure and competition from other training institutes. In the late 1990s, a new Principal Director was appointed and he brought about various changes in the organisation. All these changes resulted in the turnaround of SIETI.
