Abstract
Dan and Melissa Woodruff, an American couple, moved to Medellin, Colombia when Dan is offered a position with his company to work with a Colombian partner. Dan is kidnapped by Colombian rebel forces and endures months of captivity as Melissa and others attempt to negotiate his release. Without kidnapping and ransom insurance the negotiation process is difficult and ended very badly.
