Abstract
This case highlights the difficulties and opportunities encountered by Proactive, a small Irish design and marketing company which survived the downturn in the Irish economy. It details the company''s growth over a seven year period from its inception in 1995 to 2002. It focuses primarily on the owner/manager in order to gain an insight into the entrepreneurial skills that have contributed to the business'' success. The case presents the practical difficulties that the owner/manager has had to face in leading the company in an appropriate strategic direction, paying particular attention to both the company''s business model and client base. It profiles the owner/manager, placing particular emphasis on the contributions made and the organisational and personal challenges faced especially during a time of business expansion.
