Abstract
The case focuses on the knowledge intensive production and communication processes of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) which is a leading company in the field of country intelligence. As one of the most respected country intelligence providers, the EIU co-ordinates over 650 country intelligence experts worldwide and has more than 500,000 subscribers. Amongst the subscribers there are companies in every industry: financial institutions; corporate companies; governments and business schools. As a driver for value maximisation, EIU products help firms in exploiting opportunities, monitoring risks or resisting threats. The case shows what the sources of value for the EIU are, both in the creation and in the transfer phase. Particular emphasis is given to key success factors for both production and communication processes.
