Abstract

This is the first of a two-case series (303-035-1 and 303-036-1). The case describes the situation at Head Tyrolia Mares in 1995 as it struggles from one financial crisis to another, under the ownership of Austria Tabakwerke, the (then) government-owned tobacco monopoly. A decision has been made to sell the company and Johan Eliasch a Swedish entrepreneur, has to decide if he wishes to buy the company and turn it around, and if so, how much to pay for it.
