Abstract
Harvard Business School (HBS), throughout its 95-year-old history had always been a pioneer in management education and practices, nurturing future CEOs for generations. Throughout the 1990s, several socio-political events like the collapse of the old communist economies, the rise of the European common markets and the rise of free market economies in many countries due to globalisation, had changed the dynamics of business worldwide. Moreover with a slowdown in the US economy in the 1990s, HBS witnessed a dip in its revenues. To stay tuned with the latest trends in world business and to shore up its revenues, HBS embarked on a three-pronged strategy in the late 1990s. The case discusses the strategic initiatives undertaken by HBS and also its plans to generate funds required by these initiatives ''to educate leaders who make a difference in the world''. A structured assignment ''303-232-4'' is available to accompany this case.
