Abstract
The case focuses on the development and utilisation of the human resources (HR) of insurance organisations through proper planning and management. It emphasises the need for organisations to shift from their current manpower situation to their desired manpower position through HR planning. It also examines the problems faced by companies that failed to recognise their anticipated future needs in terms of employee skills and training. The case throws light on the need for motivating sales personnel so that they perform to the best of their abilities. The case is designed to enable students to: (1) understand the significance of proper human resource planning for an insurance organisation; (2) understand how to motivate the sales personnel of an insurance organisation; (3) analyse the repercussions of the lack of proper human resource planning; (4) discuss the drawbacks of insufficient manpower and its impact on the profit of a company. The case is intended for MBA/PGDBM level students as part of the strategic human resource management and strategic management curricula.
