Abstract
The case describes the growth of a fictional North American D.I.Y retailer which is about to launch itself in the UK. The case concentrates on strategic human resource management issues doing so in the context of rapid expansion and high levels of control through "Technologically driven" work systems. The main teaching objective of the case is to provide the opportunity for the development of integrated human resource management strategies. The case is presented in such a way that it lends itself to having the human resource management issues analysed from either a systems perspective or a labour process theory frame of reference.
